At the Medical Contact Lens and Ocular Surface Association (MCLOSA) meeting on 4th December 2015, Valerie Saw’s fellow at Moorfields Eye Hospital Miss Zygoura presented the exciting results of her research on femtosecond laser eye surgery at Moorfields using KeraRings for Keratoconus, the largest series of 38 UK eyes reported to date.

72% of eyes showed an improvement in uncorrected vision, reduced astigmatism and reduced glasses prescription. These results are very promising, but the outcomes were not predictable in all cases, as 20% showed no change, and approximately 10% showed reduced spectacle corrected vision. Despite this, no patients requested removal of the KeraRing because of their improved uncorrected vision.
