Many patients undergo laser eye surgery vision correction without having a careful assessment of their suitability in terms of their ocular surface and dry eye.
Whilst some patients may be found unsuitable for LASIK because of a high risk of post-LASIK dry eye, other patients can improve likelihood of an excellent outcome of surgery with careful preparation and correction of their dry eye problem, prior to the procedure. It is easy to overlook subtle signs of ocular surface disease unless you are an expert in dry eye.
Ms Saw’s unique expertise lies in the combination of her unparalleled experience in dry eye and ocular surface disease, her superb surgical skills, use of state-of-the art eye treatment technologies delivering the highest standards of eye care at world leading Harley St location facilities, and a demonstrated track record of excellence.
Valerie did her medical training at the University of Sydney, where she received the University Medal for coming first place on the Honours list. She has been trained at the highest level in complex corneal and cataract surgery, having spent over 4 years in advanced specialisation at Moorfields Eye Hospital. Due to her experience she is able to offer a choice of treatments and customise these to the patient’s individual situation.

🤔 Why Choose Us?
Continuity of care is paramount in Ms Saw’s practice. At your first visit, Valerie will meet you and carefully assess your eyes with a series of scans and examinations, then she will give you her opinion regarding the most suitable vision correction options, and plan the treatment in partnership with you, the patient.
If there are any medical conditions of the front of the eye or elsewhere which require correcting or optimizing in preparation for the surgery, Valerie will explain how to treat these prior to surgery. Valerie will carry out the surgery, and follow you up at recommended intervals after the surgery. Her private patients are always able to contact her whenever this is needed.
